Huka Highlights: Top 5 Memories from 2015

missy_slider-notext

It’s been an amazing year at Huka.  2015 brought two sold out festivals, epic shows across the country, and even recognition as one of the top 50 concert promoters worldwide.  Along the way, we’ve shared some unbelievable memories with our fans.

As the year closes, we wanted to revisit five of our favorites moments from 2015. Let’s get started.

1. A MASSIVE CROWD SINGS ALONG TO ZAC BROWN BAND’S RENDITION OF ‘BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY’

We try to outdo ourselves each year at Tortuga Music Festival, and 2015 was no different.  A weekend of the best country music on the beach turned downright magical when Zac Brown Band was brought in to close the sold out festival.
With the sun set over Ft. Lauderdale and people ready to end the weekend with a bang, Zac Brown delivered.  35,000 fans erupted in a massive sing-along as the first notes of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ were played.

2. PEMBERTON FANS GET THEIR FREAK ON TO MISSY ELLIOTT

Looking back at British Columbia’s Pemberton Music Festival is like watching a reel of our favorite memories.  What’s not to love?  Tens of thousands of campers spend 4 magical days in the valleys of beautiful, snow-capped Mt. Currie, partying to today’s best rock, EDM, hip hop, comedy & more.  The long weekend is spent meeting new people, creating unforgettable memories, and listening to some mind-blowing music.
Topping off our favorite Pemberton memories is Missy Elliot’s epic performance this year.  Watching Missy masterfully spit through favorites like The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly), Get Ur Freak On & Work It made us fall back in love with the undeniable hip hop queen.

3. A NOT-SO-SILENT NIGHT WITH PANIC! AT THE DISCO

When we announced that Panic! At the Disco would be coming to the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater in December, we expected excitement.  The universally acclaimed band had recently announced an upcoming studio album and released a killer single.
What we got was an overwhelming response, a quick sellout, and arguably one of the best Huka shows of 2015.

4. GORGE FOR BORGORE

BUKU Music + Art Project prides itself on being an eclectic festival. Set in Mardi Gras World (where many parade floats are made!) of our quirky hometown New Orleans, BUKU brings an incredible array of top EDM, Hip Hop and Indie Rock bands in front of consistently sold-out crowds.
One of our favorite moments from this year brought artists and fans together in a uniquely New Orleans way.  King Cake’s are an iconic Mardi Gras sweet, so why not binge on them in order to win a meet-and-greet with Borgore?

5. DOUG LOVES MOVIES, LIVE FROM HELL YES FEST

We were delighted when America’s favorite stoner, Doug Benson, decided to tape his popular podcast Doug Loves Movies at Hell Yes Fest this year.  The 10-day comedy festival brought in over 60 amazing performances across venues in New Orleans. What resulted was the most successful Hell Yes Fest to date.
Topping the long list of laughs we got over the week and a half was a nearly 90-minute long live recording of Doug Loves Movies.  Bringing out special guests Rich Sommer, Matt Braunger and Baron Vaughn, the whole episode is pure comedy gold.
