Getting #TOOBUKU at a sold out BUKU 2016!

Buku clouds

The BUKU Music + Art Project raged with a sold out crowd in its fifth year. The riverbank of Mardi Gras World was lined with pumping music and incredible art for two extraordinary days.

Check out these moments that were just TOO BUKU!

1. The Float Den went OFF

Yellow Claw brought down the Float Den with a contagious high-energy performance. You could say the crowd was hype…alright, beyond hype!

Too BUKU? Too LIT?  Oh well, it’s the only way we know how!

2. The magic of the Ballroom

Fans found magic across the festival grounds- and some were lucky enough to discover the enchantment of Purity Ring.

Can’t be TOO BUKU without a little (or a whole lot) of twerk action!

3. Connections and long-lasting memories made at the Power Plant

All problems disappear under the strikingly mesmerizing light sky.

Positive vibes radiated throughout Above & Beyond’s set. Always remember, “Life is made of small moments like this.”

4. It’s more than music

BUKU Breakers were back and killed it once again! We were stoked to have this amazing group included in our stacked list of pop-up performances that also included a drum cart for booty-shaking, a Mardi Gras Bull for raging on the go, and acrobatics for nonstop action for fans moving between stage.

Other special moments included a massive graffiti wall by the dopest artists and live painting on S.S. BUKU by Kelly Boyett. All pieces were auctioned off with proceeds going to Upbeat Academy. Giving back to our local community yo- that’s TOO BUKU.

5. YOU, the fans…now that’s way TOO BUKU

This. What it’s all about. Everyone who came out to BUKU this year made it extra special. We had a unique BUKrewe out in full force. It was simply admirable how the fans used this space to express themselves to light up the site!

We overcame a force of nature, and then the earth gave us something in return. That sunset. Was this even real?

Thank you BUKrewe, artists, and all who made BUKU 2016 a success.

See you next year!
